Ted speaks about the body’s own sense of itself, what Sherrington dubbed “proprioception.” This includes not only the familiar sense of the body in space and joints moving, but also the constant feedback processes happening at an almost completely unconscious level. He guides the class through several exercises, during which we use supported positions (like the semi-supine lie-down) to explore the some of the more unconscious aspects, including the habitual tensing of body parts that occurs when doing even the simplest of movements.
